Published specs
The size 0 user manual lists an active area of 18.0 mm × 24.0 mm, a pixel pitch of 20 μm, a 900 × 1200 matrix, and USB 2.0. The discover page also lists a pixel dimension of 20 microns, USB 2.0, plug type A, 5 V DC, and housing dimensions 23.4 mm × 33.6 mm × 4.5 mm. The outline is the active area, not the housing. Neither page is used here as a price.
Children and smaller mouths
The manual lists “Easier positioning in child patient mouth.” The discover page says the sensor is for easy positioning in children’s mouths and small oral cavities, and the gallery includes a pediatric bitewing label. Those sentences are not a rule for every child.
Software and care conflict
The discover page says the sensor works with Carestream Dental imaging platforms and TWAIN-compatible practice management systems, and the page shows CS Imaging 8. The user manual does not name CS Imaging, DEXIS, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental. The discover page says a waterproof housing. The manual says do not immerse. Follow the instructions that shipped with the sensor. The manual does not state a warranty length.
Accessories the manual names
The size 0 packing list includes one sensor holder. The manual says to store the sensor on that holder and to stick the holder with the tape on it. A sensor positioning device is not supplied. The disposable sheath is not supplied, and the cable that may touch the patient has to be covered. The manual does not name Rinn or Flow. Those products stay on their own guides.
Care checklist
From the same manual: do not twist, knot, or tangle the cable; do not drag it; hold the USB connector; do not force the plug; do not unplug USB during an exposure or a calibration; store the sensor on its holder; biting the sensor and cable can shorten the lifespan, with no year count; do not immerse; do not autoclave. Disconnect from power before cleaning. The manual names these wipes: PDI Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Clinell Universal Wipes, Metrex CaviWipes, or Metrex Cavicide. The printable checklist on the sensor fit finder uses these lines.
