My gums hurt with braces
“My gums hurt with braces” covers more than one problem. A wire that pokes is not the same as puffy gums around a bracket, and neither is a day that feels tender after an adjustment. The table matches each problem to a product already on the shelf. Our pick is that card. It is not a test result. Shopping help, not medical advice.

Wire or bracket poking or rubbing
Brace Mint Wax is a six-pack of GUM orthodontic wax in mint, for braces and aligners. Press a piece over the bracket or wire that is rubbing. Wax covers a spot. It does not clean teeth, and it does not repair a broken wire.

Sore, puffy gums around brackets
Plaque left around a bracket is a different job from wax. Brace Ortho Brush is one Oral-B Ortho soft toothbrush. The listing says the bristles are V-trimmed for cleaning around braces. Spruce Between is a 100-count of interdental brushes whose title says they are for braces. Pulse Tide Flosser is the Waterpik Cordless Pulse 3100, with two tips. A water flosser flushes around brackets. It does not pull a strand under the wire.

Poplar Threader is a 200-count of floss threaders. The listing title names braces, bridges, and implants. Hazel Floss is Oral-B Super Floss, 100 pre-cut strands, titled for bridges, braces, and wide spaces. Use the one the orthodontist showed you. Stop if the strand shreds or the gum blanches.

Tender after an adjustment
A cold soft meal and an over-the-counter pain reliever, used the way that label says, are home steps. This catalog does not sell food or pain tablets. The card here is Repair Gum Paste: Sensodyne Repair and Protect for sensitive teeth, 3.4 oz, with fluoride. It is toothpaste, not a treatment for a broken wire.

Mouth sores or irritation
A salt-water rinse is warm water and salt mixed at home. It is not a bottle on this shelf. Mild Mint Rinse is Listerine Total Care alcohol-free fluoride mouthwash, mild mint, 1 L, two bottles. The listing calls it alcohol-free. Read the bottle before you use it on a sore.

Questions people ask before they buy
Why do my gums hurt with braces?
A wire that pokes, plaque around a bracket, and a tender day after an adjustment are different problems. The table matches each one to a card. This page does not diagnose.
Will orthodontic wax fix a poking wire?
Brace Mint Wax is wax you press over a bracket or wire that rubs. A broken wire, or a wire that still pokes after wax, is a call to the orthodontist.
What if floss will not go under the wire?
Poplar Threader is a threader pack titled for braces. Hazel Floss is Super Floss, pre-cut strands titled for braces. Ask the office which one they want you to use. Stop forcing a strand that shreds.
